SEALTeam SIX on Flight Extortion 17- Were "DENIED" Pre-Assault Suppression Fire Before Going In
The death of 30 US Military personnel in an operation in Afghanistan, including 17 members of SEAL Team SIX, who 90 days previously, had taken out Osama Bin Laden, was the largest single loss of American military personnel in one operation in the 12 year conflict in Afghanistan. Al Q’ieda had previously signaled that SEAL Team SIX had been targeted. After 2 years, the persistent failure by the Obama Administration to provide the families of those 30 military personnel with certain facts surrounding their deaths has resulted in the families going public and making charges of a cover-up.
Obama confirmed to the world, for the first time ever, the existence of SEAL Team SIX and the specific details of how they operate when they took out Osama Bin Laden. Since the SEAL Team SIX had been established by President Reagan, no US President had ever revealed publically that there was a SEAL Team SIX. From time to time, over the previous 31 years, when rumors of the existence of an elite SEAL Team came up, the existence of such a unite was always officially denied. No one in Special Operations ever imagined that the Commander-in-Chief would reveal the TOP SECRET specific details of how SEAL Team SIX’s operated, or that it was that specific SEAL Team that killed Osama Bin Laden, to a worldwide audience on live television. After Obama exposed SEAL Team SIX, as the group that killed Osama Bin Laden, its members became very concerned for the safety of their families, warned their families to maintain a very low profile, and informed their families that they now felt they had targets on their backs—their concerns were soon to be proven true. The requirement for all Special Operations in Afghanistan to be approved by a Joint Operations Command with representatives of Karzai’s military in the Joint command, resulted in SEAL Team operations being scrutinized by Afghanistan military personnel who might be Taliban informants. On August 6, 2011, 17 members of the elite SEAL Team SIX, as well 13 other Special Warfare personnel were Killed In Action (KIA) on helicopter flight, Extortion 17, that was ambushed as it was slowly landing in a valley to provide desperately needed re-enforcements in a “hot zone”. Pre-assault suppression fire was asked for, but was denied, because of Rules of Engagement; flag officers were worried about injuring civilians that might be in the vicinity of where a heavy battle between Army Rangers and Terrorists was ongoing. Senior commanders said suppression fire was denied because they were trying to win the hearts and minds of the people, in line with their political correctness guidelines.
Representatives of the families of the 30 deceased US military personnel held a national press conference at the National Press Club; the video of the press conference can be viewed in its entirety by clicking on the below listed link. The left of center liberal media establishment, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC refused to cover the press conference. This is another incident where the refusal of the Obama Administration’s to reveal facts surrounding the deaths of slain Americans resulted in charges of a cover-up, it is in line with the death of a Border Patrolman as a result of the Fast and Furious gun running operation in Mexico, and the death of 4 Americans who were killed by Al Q’ieda terrorist who attacked the US Mission in Benghazi in an 8 hour terrorist operation. The long video of the press conference should be viewed only when you have the time.
The photos [shown in the following AP Photo link] are those of the 30 military personnel killed in a helicopter downing in Afghanistan on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, because pre-assault suppression fire was denied before the helicopter was sent into a valley surrounded by high hills. The Pentagon identified the Americans as 17 members of the elite Navy SEAL Team SIX, five Naval Special Warfare personnel who support the SEALs, three Air Force Special Operations personnel and an Army helicopter crew of five.
