Combat Veterans For Congress---Embedded Integrity

The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing Major Jonathan L. Camarillo, USMC (Ret) as the 133rd Combat Veterans For Congress in the last 10 years; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by irresponsible members of Congress, will work to reduce the national debt, and stimulate private sector business investment to create jobs and raises wages. He is a pro-life candidate who supports border security and cutting taxes.  As a recent transitioning veteran, Maj Camarillo will fight to ensure that veterans receive the cutting-edge services they need and deserve.  One of his priorities is to bring people together to unify Congress and the American people, and he believes in an efficient government that serves the people and upholds the highest standards of integrity and transparency.  Major Camarillo of Pearland, Texas served in the US Marine Corps for 20 years, and is running in the Republican Primary Election to seek the Congressional nomination with 13 other candidates for the open seat in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas that was vacated by retiring 6 term Congressman Pete Olson (R-TX-22).

Major Camarillo has a strong foreign policy background and is the only Combat Veteran in the primary race.  He has had three tours in the Middle East, spent three years serving in Asia which provided him with an in depth understanding of China’s 100-year world dominance plan, and on his last tour of duty in the US Marine Corps, he was one of the Marine Corps Representative in Latin America.  That last tour of duty in Latin America made him aware of the massive effort that Russia and China are making in the Western Hemisphere to influence all the South America countries with the misleading impression that Marxist and Socialist philosophy is superior to Democracies.  Major Camarillo has a vision of what can be done in Congress to blunt Russia and China’s initiatives in the Western Hemisphere and keep America safe for future generations.

Jonathan Camarillo is a native of Texas, and was and born in St Joseph’s Hospital and raised in Harris County, Houston, Texas on December 21, 1973.  Jonathan’s youth was spent in Houston’s East End.  He attended elementary school and middle school in the Houston area.  Through his formative years, his primary passions were God, family, community service, and sports.  Growing up as a member of Life Tabernacle Church, he was involved in the church youth group, homeless ministry, and the bus ministry, picking up children locally and chaperoning them to Sunday school.  Jonathan’s commitment to the principles of hard work and fair play was cultivated through his participation in athletics.  

Jonathan played Golf while attending high school, and in June 1992, Jonathan graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, TX.  After graduating, Jonathan was awarded a full golf scholarship to Texas Southern University in Houston where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in December 1998.   Jonathan decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, US Marine Corps Cpl Gilbert Camarillo’s, who served in the US Marine Corps during the Cuban Conflict from 1960 to 1964; he heard the call to serve and defend his country.  After graduating from college, Jonathan departed for the US Marine Officer Candidate School (OCS). 

In January 23, 1999, Jonathan Camarillo was sworn into the US Marine Corps at the Marine Corps Command Development Command at the US Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, and entered OCS on base; he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps in April 1999.  In April 1999, 2nd Lt Camarillo reported to The Basic School at Quantico, and completed Basic Marine Corps Officer Training in September 1999.  From October 1999, to March 2000, 2nd Lt Camarillo was assigned as Executive Officer for the Operations Company at Quantico.  In March 2000, 2nd Lt Camarillo reported to the Communications Information Systems Officer Course at Quantico.  

Following completion of Communications Information Systems Officer Course in August 2000, 2nd Lt Camarillo was assigned to 2ndBattalion, 6th Marines (Infantry Battalion) at Camp Lejeune, NC as the Battalion Communication Officer.  In April 2001, 2nd Lt Camarillo was promoted to First Lieutenant.  During his tour with the 2nd Battalion, in February 2002, he deployed to the Persian Gulf for 6 months in the Fifth Fleet Area of Operational Responsibility with 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, returning in July 2002 to the US; he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for communications support.  In November 2002, 1st Lt Camarillo was transferred as Assistant Regimental Communications Officer for the 2nd Marine Regimental Combat Team at Camp Lejeune, NC.  He was responsible for the planning and installment of all voice and data communications for a 4,500-man force.

January 2003, 1st Lt Camarillo was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, for a second time. The Regimental Combat Team-2, Task Force Tarawa, I Marine Expeditionary Force prosecuted the invasion of Iraq, and subsequently secured the Capitol City of Baghdad.  During combat operations, from March 23rd to March 26th, in the vicinity of An Nasiriyah, with the objective of  seizing two vital bridges across the Euphrates River, 1st Lt Camarillo’s leadership in combat actions, under direct and indirect enemy fire, supported and facilitated the successful seizure and defense of those two bridges vital to subsequent attacks on Baghdad.  1st Lt Camarillo’s combat actions resulted in being awarded with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with the Combat ‘V’ device.  In June 2003, 1st Lt Camarillo deployed back to Camp Lejeune. 

Following return to the United States in June 2003, 1st Lt Camarillo executed Permanent Change of Station orders in July 2003, to Recruiting Station Houston, and was assigned as the Recruiting Station Operations Officer until June 2006.  In August 2003, 1st Lt Camarillo was promoted to Captain.  Upon selection for Expeditionary Warfare School in August 2006, Cpt Camarillo reported to Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia.  

Following completion of Expeditionary Warfare School, on August 2007, Cpt Camarillo received orders to report as Commanding Officer, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38 (MWCS-38), at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA; MWCS-38 deployed to Al Asad, Iraq.  In August 2008, Cpt Camarillo was promoted to Major and received orders to report as Operations Officer of the 3rd Marine Air Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA.  In September 2009, Maj Camarillo received orders to report as Contact Team Officer for the 8th Marine Corps District at Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, TX.  

In August 2010, Major Camarillo was pre-selected for the single most selective command within the Marine Corps (5% selection rate among all Major’s in the Marine Corps), the Recruiting Station in, Fort Worth, Texas.  In June 2011, Maj Camarillo received orders as Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station, Fort Worth, TX.  Major Camarillo led Marines across 65,000 square miles, an area spanning two states, managed a $3.5 million annual budget, 25 separate recruiting facilities and a fleet of 68 government-owned vehicles.  His command was recognized and earned the Marine Corps Commandants Superior Achiever award for three consecutive years of surpassing quota goals. 

From March 2011 to March 2012, Maj Camarillo completed a self-paced non-resident course, for the US Marine Corps Command and Staff College.  In September 2014, Maj Camarillo reported as the Information Management Officer (G-3, Current Operations), III Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan.  In October 2016, Maj Camarillo reported as Operations Officer of Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan.  In June 2017, Maj Camarillo reported to Marine Forces Southern Command, at Doral, FL. 
                                                                                                                       

Returning back state side from Asia, in June of 2017, Maj Camarillo served as a Marine Corps Representative to Latin America at U.S. Marine Forces Southern Command in Doral, FL.  On February 1, 2019, Maj Camarillo was Honorably Discharged from the US Marine Corps following 20 years of dedicated service.  Major Camarillo was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Combat “V”), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 Gold Stars in lieu of 3rd award), the Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon (Navy), Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4 Bronze Stars in lieu of  5th award), various Service and Campaign Medals.

While serving his country, Jonathan has always had an enduring passion for business.  Since retiring from the Marine Corps in February 2019 he has worked with private equity investors in choosing future investments and has participated as an angel investor in numerous projects.  To date, he has personally been responsible for the deployment of more than $5 million in investment capital that has supported a multitude of global projects.  His investment focus areas have historically been within the oil & gas and biotech industries.  In October 2019, Jonathan announced his intention to run for Congress in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas.

Jonathan is a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the National Rifle Association, the Marine Corps Association, and the Marine Corps League.  Jonathan has been endorsed by the former Commanding General of the Fourth Marine Division, Major General James Williams, USMC (Ret),  National TV Fox News Commentator Cdr Kirk S. Lippold, USNA ‘81, USN (Ret), the Texas Freedom PAC, and the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC.  Jonathan, his wife Bertha of 18 years, his son Levi age 13, and his daughter Emmelyn age 10 are active members of the Life Tabernacle Church in Houston, TX.
