The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 26th Combat Veteran For Congress in 18 states; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by the Pelosi Congress.   Major Savas T. Kyriakidis, USAR (JAG) (C-TN-3) http://www.sendsavas.com resides in Chattanooga, TN.  He has served in the US Army Reserves from 1997 to present and is running for election and is a candidate for Congress in Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District for the open seat vacated by Cong Zach Wamp (R-TN-3) who had represented the district since 1995. Savas was born in Asbury Park, NJ in September 1966, but was raised in Tennessee near Chattanooga.  In 1984 Savas graduated from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, and in 1988 he graduated from the University of the South, in Sewanee with a BA in both history and political science.   In 1991 Savas graduated from the University of Dayton Law School with a Juris Doctorate degree.  Although he is licensed to practice law in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and the U.S. Federal Courts, Maj Kyriakidis currently restricts his practice of law to the U.S. Army. 

Savas Kyriakidis joined the U.S. Army in 2000 and received a direct commission as a First Lieutenant into the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG Corps), serving with the 3397th Garrison Support Unit, a reserve unit headquartered in Chattanooga.  Captain Kyriakidis deployed on Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). While in Nineveh, Iraq, Captain Kyriakidis Savas was given the assignment of democratizing and repairing the Iraqi Judiciary in that entire Northern Province. Along with two other JAG Captains, he was very instrumental in repairing and stabilizing the Judicial System in the northern area of operations based in Mosul, Iraq.  Then Captain Kyriakidis was awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Screaming Eagle Combat Patch.  He has also earned Paratrooper Jump Wings, Air Assault Wings, Pathfinder Torch, Australian Jump Wings, and German Jump Wings.  In 2005 Capt Kyriakidis was assigned to teach and help train Special Operation Forces at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  His service at the Special Warfare Center earned him another Meritorious Service Medal and high regard in the Special Forces Community.  Capt Kyriakidis returned from active duty in 2008 to be closer to his family and was promoted to Major in August 2010; Major Kyriakidis serves as the Command Judge Advocate for 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), a National Guard Unit headquartered in Birmingham.

Maj Kyriakidis is the son of a Greek immigrant and a native Georgian mother.  His father, Teddy, immigrated to the USA in 1951 and immediately began work as a busboy in a restaurant in New Jersey. In just 5 years Teddy was able to buy his first restaurant and has been an owner or manager of restaurants ever since. Long hours and hard work have been in the Kyriakidis family for many years. That is how Savas was raised.  In 1982 the Kyriakidis family moved to Chattanooga, to be closer to the family of Savas’ mother, Betty.  They immediately opened Little Athens in East Ridge where Savas often worked during his school years at The McCallie School and the University of the South in Sewanee.   Maj Kyriakidis is no stranger to hard work and has always been someone who knows how to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.  Savas, along with other members of his family, is an owner and operator of The Acropolis restaurant near Chattanooga’s Hamilton Place Mall.

Savas has been active in numerous community organizations.  He is a member of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, the VFW, the National Guard Association, the American Legion, and the Board of Advisors of the Salvation Army.   Major Kyriakidis has been endorsed by the National Defense PAC, the Chattanooga Tea Party, President for Partners for Christian Media, General B. B. Bell, USA (Ret), and the Combat Veterans For Congress.  Savas also serves in the mission field in South Africa through Hope Africa, an organization he started.  Maj Kyriakidis and his family worship at The Crossing in Chattanooga, TN.  Savas Kyriakidis is a devoted father to his two children ranging in age from eight to twelve years of age.
