Lt. Col. Kenneth T. Glasson, Jr., USMCR of Mount Pleasant, SC http://www.GlassOnCongress.org has served in the US Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve for 29 years and is running for election tgo Congress in the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina. He is running for a seat where the Republican Henry Brown, retired. Lt. Col Glasson grew up in Moorestown, NJ and in 1986 he received a BS in Psychology from Glassboro State College in Glassboro, NJ. In 1996 he received an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Averett College, in Danville, VA.
Ken enlisted in the US Marine Corps in January 1981, went thru basic training in Paris Island, SC. As an active duty and reserve enlisted Marine he achieved the rank of Sergeant before applying to Officer Candidates School, in October 1986. Sgt Glasson entered Officer Candidate School in Quantico and was commission a Second Lieutenant in December 1986 as an Active Duty Infantry Officer. He completed a full 2 year tour as an Infantry officer to include a six month WEST PAC cruise to the Far East. Upon his return in 1989, he successfully completed the indoctrination into the Reconnaissance Community. In August, 1990 First Lieutenant Glasson deployed to the Persian Gulf in Operation Desert Shield as the lead element for 1st Reconnaissance (Recon) Battalion. During the ground war of Operation Desert Storm 1st Lt. Glasson and his platoon were selected (1 of 16 with in the Battalion) to attach as the Recon support for 7th Marine regiment “Task Force Ripper", which was the lead element for ALL marine ground forces in theater. 1st Lt. Glasson's platoon was the point element for all US Marine ground forces. For service in combat 1st Lt Glasson was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V” (Valor), the Combat Action Ribbon, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and multiple campaign service medals. During his time in 1st Recon Bn. Lt. Glasson was deployed numerous times supporting real world operations. Following his combat tour, Lt Glasson deployed to Central America, (Honduras), and also operations along the US boarder. In 1997 Major Glasson was recalled to active duty and served as the senior ground analyst for the Situation in Kosovo. In October 2002 Major Glasson was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and currently serves in the US Marine Corps Reserve providing Intelligence Support for his command.
Lt. Col. Glasson has been endorsed by VADM Albert J Baciocco, USN (Ret), Mt Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails, Mt Pleasant Mayor Pro Tem Paul Garwych, Mt Pleasant Town Councilman Nick Collins, John Burns, Linda Page, and Dr. Craig, Col. Myron Harrington, USMC (Ret), Col Mac Radcliff, USMC (Ret), and was recently endorsed by Ryan Buckhannon, a City Councilman for the City of Isle of Palms, SC. Councilman Buckhannon was a candidate for the 1st Congressional Seat as well, and upon his announcement to withdraw, he chose to endorse and support Lt Col Glasson. Ken was first elected as a Town Councilman in Mount Pleasant, SC, in 2006, and still retains the seat. He is the founder and CEO of Coastal Wealth Management, a Financial Services Company. He is a member of Seacoast Christian Community Church, leads the charge each year with the Toys for Tots program, and is the Treasurer for the Low County Leathernecks, a US Marine Corps Organization.
