The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing a candidate that was previously endorsed in the 2010 mid-term election who won his primary election and lost in the general, he is therefore one of 55th Combat Veterans For Congress of record who have been endorsed over the last three years.  He is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by the Obama Administration.  Lt. Col. Dick Muri, USAF (Ret) (R-WA-10) http://dickmuri.com of Steilacoom, Washington served in the US Air Force for 22 years and is running for election for Congress in the 10th Congressional District of Washington. This is a new Congressional District for the State of Washington.  The opponent is the liberal big government Olympia insider, Denny Heck, who fortunately lost by a large margin to Congresswoman Jamie Herrera (R-WA-3) in the race for the 3rd Congressional District seat in 2010.   Richard “Dick” Muri was born in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1953 (his father was stationed at Ladd AF Base) and he grew up in Ashland, Massachusetts; he graduated from Ashland High School in 1971.   Dick received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1975.  He received a Master Degree in Public Administration in 1988 from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.

Dick was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force via Air Force ROTC from the University of Massachusetts Amherst on June 20, 1975 and entered active service on April 19, 1976.  Second Lieutenant Muri flew C-141A/B airlift aircraft on many humanitarian missions including the Zaire Airlift in 1978.  Captain Muri received the Air Medal for his two combat airlift missions in 1983 to Grenada during Urgent Fury and the evacuation of 69 students from Grenada to the USA.   On December 4, 1979, First Lieutenant Muri was promoted to the rank of Captain.  Captain Muri was subsequently assigned as a Tactical Airlift Liaison Officer to various Army Combat Divisions from 1982 to 1989 and in February 1983 was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for his six weeks serving the 9th Infantry Division during Exercise Brim Frost in Fairbanks, Alaska.  On February 1, 1987, Captain Muri was promoted to the rank of Major.  From 1989 to 1991 then Major Muri was the 628 MASS Director of Airlift Operations at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey where he served in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort.  Major Muri received the Meritorious Service Medal for these two years of service.  On February 1, 1992 Major Muri was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.   Lt. Col. Muri has supported his community and it's veterans for many years and was honored twice for those efforts.  Then Lt Colonel Muri received the 1996 John M. Anderson Military Citizen of the year award and then again was one of two civilians inducted in 2006 into the Fort Lewis Civilian Hall of Fame   Lt. Col. Muri’s retired on January 1, 1998, and his combat awards include the Air Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), and multiple campaign medals.

We have endorsed another Combat Veteran For Congress that General George Washington would have approved of, he is a Veteran who at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The Unites States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life.”
