The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 60th Combat Veterans For Congress; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by the Obama Administration and will work toward unleashing the private sector to grow once again, create jobs, and stimulate business investment. Cpt Daniel Roberts, USMC http://www.danrobertsforcongress.com who resides in Tiburon, California, served 4 years of honorable service in the US Marine Corps in defense of the Republic and was honorably discharged as Disabled American Veteran.  Daniel is running for election in the 2nd Congressional District of California in an open seat where the former Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey is retiring; she was largely ineffective but did support all of Nancy Pelosi’s very liberal legislative initiatives.  Dan was born in San Francisco on February 25, 1943, was raised in San Francisco, and attended Lowell High School in San Francisco graduating in June 1960; the family moved to Chicago in December 1968.  In September 1960 Dan entered San Francisco State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1965.  Following graduation he joined the US Marine Corps.  In 1969 Dan was accepted at Loyola University in Chicago, IL and attained an MBA in Finance in December 1971. 

Following graduation from San Francisco State, he joined the US Marine Corps on March 22, 1965 Daniel was sworn into the 37th OCS Class at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia.  Upon being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at Quantico on May 27, 1965, 2nd Lt Roberts entered Basic Officer School, completing this assignment on December 1, 1965.  He was next assigned to Army Artillery School in Fort Sill, OK graduating AS AN Artillery Officer on February 1, 1966.   He deployed to Da Nang, Vietnam in March 1966; in Vietnam he was assigned as a Forward Artillery Observer for Bravo Battery (105 mm howitzer) First Battalion, 12th Marines, Third Marine Division in the Elephant Valley.  2nd Lt Roberts went on long range patrols with Golf Company, 2-3.  Following Forward Observer duty, he was assigned to Mortars 1-12 as the Fire Direction Officer (FDC) based near Nam O Village, which was about 7 miles Northwest of the of the DaNang Airfield.  Second Lt Roberts participated with the this 4.5 Mortar Battery in Operation Deckhouse Vin the Mekong Delta, 50 miles south of Saigon.  His unit was subsequently transferred to Dong Ha Village, about 9 miles south of the DMZ and was helo lifted to Ba Long Valley about 21 miles inland from the South China Sea, 7 miles from the Laotian Border in Quang Tri Province.   In July 1966, while still on combat duty in Vietnam, 2nd Lt Roberta was promoted to First Lieutenant.  In April 1, 1967, following completion of his combat assignment, he was transferred to Headquarters Battery, 13th Marines, 5th Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA.  He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and various service medals.  On July 1, 1967, while still stationed with the 5th Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, 2nd Lt Roberts was promoted to Captain.  Capt Roberts was assigned as Battery Commander, 155 mm SP, 4th Battalion 13th Marines (4-13); he was next assigned as a 4th Battalion 13th Marines Regimental Operations Officer.  Capt Roberts was released from active duty at Camp Pendleton on May 15, 1968; his service related disability was adjudicated in excess of 30%. 

Upon Completion of active duty, Capt Roberts joined Monsanto Corporation as a field Sales Representative, residing first in St Louis , MO, then until December 1971 in Chicago, IL.  In February 1972, he and his family settled in San Francisco and joined Dean Witter & Co. as a Registered Representative.  In 1987, he formed the firm Roberts & Ryan Investments, Inc.  a full serviced and underwriting Broker dealer.  He continues to own and manage that firm.  In 1990, Dan was elected as the first President of the California Disabled Veterans’ Business Enterprise Alliance, serving for 2 years in that capacity; from 1992 to 1994 he served on the Board of Directors.  In 2003, Dan was elected to represent smaller Broker Dealer firms on the local Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) district Committee.  In 2007, he was elected as a member of the Board of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Small Firms Advisory Board; in 2009, he was re-elected for a three year term.

Daniel has been endorsed by Col Howard Ritchie, USMC (Ret) his Mortar Battery Commanding Officer, Mortars 1-12, while in Vietnam, from March 1966-April 1967.  He has also been endorsed by Col Elton Johnson, USA (Ret) the owner of Amerivet Securities, Inc. & Director of the Independent Broker-Dealer Association, the California Republican Party (Tom Del Beccaro, Chair.), the Humboldt County Republican Central Committee (Peter Hannaford, Chair.), the Mendocino County Republican Central Committee (Stan Anderson, Chair.), and the Marin County Republican Central Committee (Kevin Krick, Chair.).  Dan Roberts is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, California Disabled Veterans Enterprise Alliance, the California Republican Party, American MENSA, USMC 2/3 Vietnam Association, USMC Mortars 1-12 Veterans Association. USMC Basic School 5-65 Association, Society of California Pioneers (Board Member), and he is an elected Board member of the Small Firms Advisory Board, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).  Daniel Roberts is a member of St. Hilary’s Catholic Church in Tiburon, CA.  Dan is widowed and has three adult children Tim age 43, Chad age 41, and Sean age 36.
