The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 101st Combat Veteran For Congress in 5 years; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by irresponsible members of Congress and the Obama administration, will work toward unleashing the private sector to grow once again, to create jobs, and stimulate business investment.  Captain Christopher E. Day, USA (Ranger Qualified) who resides in Palisades, NY with 4 years of service in the US Army, most of which was in combat.  He is running for election in the 17th Congressional District of New York against 26 year incumbent, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY-17) who wholeheartedly supported and voted for Obamacare first in November 2009 and then for the final version in 2010, voted to cut pensions and benefits of military personnel, voted to cut Medicare, voted to increase airline taxes, voted against fiscal discipline, supported deficit spending by voting 13 times to increase the US National Debt to $13 trillion over what it was when she was first elected, voted consistently against holding the IRS accountable for violating American voting rights, voted against the bill to hold Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress, in general Lowey voted in lock step with Pelosi for the entire time she has represented her district.   Christopher Day was born on December 29, 1984 in New City, New York, and was raised in a middle income family in New City; his grandfather served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.  He graduated from Clarkstown North High School in New City in June 2003.  In May 2005, Chris received an Associate’s Degree from SUNY Rockland Community College in Rockland, NY.  Chris accepted and matriculated at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut; he was active in Yale Political Union, and helped organize the Army ROTC Company for the southern tier of Connecticut (serving as its first Cadet Commander).  In May 2007, Chris received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Yale University.   In May 2013, Chris received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Graduate School of Business Administration in New York City. 

Christopher Day was sworn into the US Army (Infantry Branch) as a Second Lieutenant on May 28, 2007 and was named a Distinguished Military Graduate from Yale University’s ROTC Program.  In July 2007, 2LT Day reported to US Army Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Georgia he completed the Basic Course, Airborne School, and Ranger School in December 2007.  Upon completion of training at Fort Benning in December 2007, 2LT Day was assigned as 2nd Platoon Leader, Fox Company, 51st Infantry Regiment  (Long Range Surveillance) (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  On May 28, 2008, 2LT Day was promoted to First Lieutenant.  On July 28, 2008, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2LT Day deployed to Forward Operating Base Sykes in Tal Afar, Iraq.  His unit participated in surveillance and reconnaissance missions in the area between Mosul and the Syrian border.  Upon return to Fort Bragg on September 21, 2008 he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and various Service and Campaign Medals. 

First Lieutenant Day was assigned as a Platoon Leader in the 4th Battalion, 73rd Cavalry Squadron (Reconnaissance, Surveillance, & Target Acquisition), 4th Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.  On January 16, 2009, 2LT Day was promoted to First Lieutenant.  On August 23, 2009, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, 1LT Day deployed to Farah Province in Afghanistan as a Platoon Leader.  First lieutenant Day lead troops through combat and extreme deprivation in varied environments from the mountains of Bala Murghab along the Turkmenistan border to the arid deserts of Shewan and Bala Bahik.  Toward the end of the deployment, 1LT Day was given much more responsibility when he was selected to be Senior Logistic Officer; he was responsible for supervising all logistical and readiness matters. On August 1, 2010, 1LT Day was promoted to Captain, and on August 16, 2010, the unit returned to Fort Bragg.  For combat action, CPT Day was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Unit commendation, the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Combat Service Identification Badge for the 82nd Airborne Division, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and various Service and Campaign Medals.  On July 16, 2011, Cpt Day was Honorably Discharged from the US Army; his awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon (an Oak Leaf for a 2nd award), the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Combat Service Identification Badge for the 82nd Airborne Division, the Combat Service Identification Badge for the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal, the Ranger Tab, the Parachutist’s Badge, and various Service and Campaign Medals. 

In December 2011, following his Honorable Discharge from the US Army, Chris was employed as a Vice President of Selway Capital, located in New York City, NY, in the field of private equity and venture capital.  His work assignments included financial and operational analysis and modeling, due diligence on investments, sector research, and advising and assisting portfolio company CEO’s.   In 2013, Chris managed Ed Day’s successful campaign for Rockland County Executive.  Chris Day was named to Rockland County’s Forty Under 40 for community service and professional achievement.  Chris is a member of the Combat Infantrymen’s Association, the VFW Post 852, the American Legion Post 1682, the Association of Yale Alumni, and is a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church in New City, New York.  Chris lives with his son, Chris Jr. who is 5 years old, and his fiancé, Jennifer.  Chris has been endorsed by the New York State Republican Party, the New York State Conservative Party, Rockland County Building & Construction Trades Council of Unions, and the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC.
